Ended Afghan
If you can crochet, how did you learn, and how long will it take me to get it down pat?
I was watching a lady crochet in the hospital where I work. She was just jabbering along and going really fast at crocheting this afghan. She had the end of it stuffed into a basket and seemed to make it look so easy. I decided I want to learn how to do this to pass the time while I am at home. Can you give me any insight or helpful hints on this interesting hobby? I would like to learn to do it and become proficient at it. I am 42 yrs old. Am i just wasting my time?
I learned from my mother without her even realizing. I'm left handed and she was right, so I would sit in front of her and watch everything she was doing. I was 10 years old so my work was still a little sloppy. I don't remember how long before I got "good" at it, but I would think as an adult it would take no more than a month or two for you to pick it up. Go for it. It's such a stress reliever. People love to get my handmade afghans as gifts. There are also several really good charities that will accept whole blankets or a few small squares that can be sewn together with other donated squares to make an afghan.
