Pad Crochet
All you crazy hunters/english riders? Question?
Ok, so Luna and I have our first show next weekend. I'm so excited.
I'm debating on using a white quilted pad, with navy blue trim or my all white fleece pad. It's a non-rated, schooling show and we're just doing flat classes. I was also kinda considering a navy blue, with white/sky blue trim. It's our eventing saddle pad, but I think it looks really good on her.
I also want your opinion on whether or not to use a crochet fly bonnet or not. She has real sensitivity to bugs and will headshake if I don't use it. If I put SWAT around her ears, she'll be fine, but it always makes her look like a grease ball. It's navy blue...if that matters.
Ok, and last question: flash band or no flash band? I have a black flash bridle, that fits her perfectly. She works so much better with a flash than without, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed a flash band in hunters.
I think you should use the fleece pad and the fly bonnet, along with the flash. In a non-rated schooling show, I almost guarantee they won't get down on you for your tack. I've seen people show up in jeans to schooling shows, tbh. Before you go in, ask the judge if the flash and fly bonnet is allowed - If he says no, take them both off. Most flash bridles you can just slide the flash right out of the keeper and BAM! it's a plain cavesson. Some judges are picky, even at schooling shows.
The fleece pad will always be acceptable in hunters, no worries about that.
