Which sewing machine would you recommend for me?
I'm looking to buy a sewing machine. I am a beginner and I'll use the machine to make clothes and handbags. What kind of machine you would recommend?
I prefer vintage sewing machines and are almost all metal for the electronics. Especially if you want to sew heavy materials in a handbag, you might want a machine that will stand up such use. The new machines are built with thousands of plastic gears and parts and have an expected life expectancy. And these are the machines that cost thousands. Part of our company lay. Some would look good machines Singer 401, Singer 500, Elna 62 (or Star) series. Also older Kenmore machines, but try to avoid attachments with the super rod high. There are several groups on Yahoo groups that discuss vintage sewing machines and the advantages and disadvantages of each type. The latest does have many characteristics and depending on how much you spend, they can be very stitches. So much depends on what you're looking to do and how long you want the machine to last.
