Yarn White
Can I knit with one thick yarn and one thin yarn?
I want to make a striped knitted scard with a thick blue yarn but a think white yarn. Is it possible for me to do this? Would i need to increase my stiches on the thin yarn to keep up with the thick yarn?
You actually have 4 options:
1) You can just knit a 1 to 1 stitch ratio with thick & thin yarns. This will give an airy almost lacy look to the white sections where they interact with the thick
2) You can knit both yarns at the same time to they are intermixed on each stitch
3) You can do a kfb in each stitch when transitioning from thick to thin & a k2tog when transitioning from thin to thick.
4) You can use both ends of the thin skein at the same time (or 2 skeins of the thin yarn) when knitting so the thickness is about the same.
I have tried all four and the one to choose depends entirely on what the look you are looking for.
